Above photos is a gateway to Gulabi Bagh (Rose Garden) and as we pass this gate, there is a tomb of Dai Anga (see description below). This is a historical building and constructed in truly Mughal style architecture. Recently our Govt. has taken some action and put some lights on it which glow up this beautiful artistic piece of building.

This Gateway and Tomb Dai Anga is on G.T. Road near to U.E.T. (University of Engineering & Technology) Lahore. It is easily visible from road but gate is always closed and people use to jump over the fence to go in there. But these visitors don’t come to see the beauty art piece or enjoy the garden but to sit privately, have a chit chat, can smoke and use drugs. Some part of this garden is occupied by illegal houses which lessen down the beauty of park. Below is the description written about Gulabi Bagh Gateway and Dai Anga’s Tomb.

Gulabi Bagh Gateway:

This Gateway is the entrance to measure garden which like so many other gardens at Lahore has now disappeared. It was constructed by a Persian Noble Mirza Sultan Baig who was “Amiral-Bahr”(Admiral of fleet)

The name of Gulabi Bagh (Rose Garden) has been mentioned in laste line of the inscription over the arch way, which describes the kind of the garden, and the date of its construction (1066 AH – 1655 AD) It measures 47+35 and is profusely decorated with mosaic tile work.

Dai Anga’s Tomb:

Behind the Gulabi Bagh Gateway and on the site of the former garden, lies this mausolueum of Dai Anga, the wet-nurse of Shahjahan. She was the wife of Murad Khan, a Mughal magistrate of Bikaner. She was the founder of Dai Anga’s Mosque at Lahore. The Quranic inscription on the wall of the tomb chamber ends in the name of the scribe, Muhammad Salih, with date 1082 A.H. (1671 A.D.), which seems to be the year when the tomb was completed. Built in burnt brick on a square plan, the tomb stands on a low platform underwhich lie the actual burials in subterranian chamber. The mausoleum comprising of a central tomb chamber and eight rooms around it, was once beautifully decorated with enameled tile mosaic work. The roof bears a low pitched dome on a high neck and a square kiosk in each corner supported on slander brick pillars. The original two cenotaphs have been replaced later by the existing brick built oves.

This lunch table shown in above photo is not on ground, it is on a mountain, 4000 feet above sea level. This place is known as Chirat where I’d a lunch with my family, above the mountains, in the clouds with beautiful landscape all around. While moving above the mountains I praise ALLAH at each level that how beautifully ALLAH create this world, these mountains, how beautifully these trees are planted on sloppy mountains. How lush green these mountains seems from distance and those trees seems to be bushes on it. As we came near to these mountains we come to know that these are not bushes but long length trees and mountains start looking more beautiful. How many trees we have on every single mountain. Those green trees on huge rocky mountains seems so beautiful.

One thing is beautiful landscape and other is cold weather on these mountains. This cold weather add more enjoying environment. Specially in a country like Pakistan where we have summer for 8 months, people love to go on cold places. These high standing mountains have cold weather over there which force us to bring out our sweaters and jackets. Wearing jackets in summer? How enjoyable… This is one of the lovely rejoicing moment while traveling to Northern part of Pakistan. Pakistan is such a blessed country where we have all the seasons plus mountains and beaches in a same country.

Summer is just starting so those who hate summer and load shedding in summer should take a long break to visit those Northern areas of Pakistan and enjoy cold season in summer.

First day in Kamra, I go to Attack Khurd, which is like 30 minutes drive from Kamra. It is a beautiful place which has an old railway station and a bridge surrounded in mountains. Bridge is on river Indus and it gives a very eye catching view.Bridge is built in 1800 and quite active and used for trains till now. Earlier it was used for cars, vehicles too but now that part is used for pedestrians only. But this is lower part of the bridge, upper part has railway track on it which is still used for trains. It seems very beautiful train passing the bridge on Indus river with mountains around it.

Attack Khurd Bridge

Beside that old style railway station which has old machinery in it. I amazed to see that machinery is still active and they used it to communicate with other railway stations. According to that station master, this kind of old machinery is in most of the cities of Khyber Pakhtun-Khwa. That machinery has Siemens logo on it, how old this company is. Well that antique style railway station around the mountains took us back in 1800.

We came back to 2011 and move towards the river shore which has sand on it like a beach. We get down to the sea by passing through many rocks and difficult passage. It was a nice view of river passing through the high mountains. Part which touches the river was mostly of sand in which my son played alot. He fill himself all with sand and he was the most happiest person over there. It feels nice to walk on sand with your shoes off. Weather was good over there which is a blessing in summer. It’s a nice place to have a picnic with your family.

Bridge on River Indus

Yesterday my Mom planned to visit her elder son living in Kamra. Kamra is a small place in Northern Punjab where I believe nothing important is. It’s not possible to miss my daily morning classes so there ain’t any plan but urge to visit new places pursue me, n my heart says ‘let’s do it’, let’s give a leave for morning classes. I call my senior and says that I’m going to visit my brother and I’ll be back in three days. Plan was to come today but I didn’t wait to miss another day and said to my mom that let’s go now. It was 6 pm and we all get ready to move. We say our Maghrib prayer and get out of house at 7 pm.

During journey I took rice from KFC (on Motorway) which make my stomach ill. It is still not in a good condition to eat everything out here. I haven’t tell about it to anyone so I can have all that food which my eyes wants. Well it took almost 6 hours to reach to Kamra where my bro was waiting for us at toll plaza. His house was 10 km from that toll plaza and after reaching his home I slept for long.

Now we are having our lunch in little time and then moving out to river shore. Afterward we’ve planned to go to Atak city and visit famous places and famous eat out over there. Let me know any exciting place you know which I should not miss in this short tour.

Ring Road Lahore has become blessing for the people of Lahore, specially to those who have to travel from one corner to another within the city. I’m not a user of this road as I’ve to go to Gulberg or now to Johar Town for which I choose Canal Road. Canal Road has no traffic signal from One end of Lahore to another end. It is straight road with lot of underpasses. But this straight road didn’t connect all areas of Lahore. For this purpose one can use Ring Road of Lahore.

Ring Road is a circular road around whole city Lahore. If one has to pass through a long way within a city then he could enter into this three lane road through any interchange and go directly to one’s certain point without any traffic signal. One might has to do some extra miles while traveling on this ‘Ring Road’ but it will certainly lessen down the time and tension one face while traveling through rush and traffic of the city.

Well, one day I had a work in Sanda, near to Krishan Nagar which is few kilometers away from end of Mall Road. I’ve to go to Mughalpura after it. If I go through Mall Road which has hell a lot of traffic signals and one of the rushy road of Lahore then I believe it would take nearly an hour minimum. Person over there said me that; why don’t you use Ring Road? I said: can I get on to it from here because it has one interchange on Harbanspura which is couple of kilometers away from Mughalpura. Well after half kilometer of streets I was on Ring Road and I took above photo over there. Well I note the time from there and it took me 20 minutes to reach Harbanspura interchange.

These 20 minutes on Ring Road were without any traffic signal, without any rush of traffic. There were traffic on it but didn’t bother much as it is a three lane road like motorway. I keep blessing those who construct this road as it saved my lot of tension and hustle time on rushy roads.

Ring Road Lahore is planned to cover whole city but it is half constructed at t he moment, other parts are under construction. One of the important part of this road is one which will cover Multan Road but there is a problem of markets over there and we are not sure when it will pursue. Though it is constructed from Sanda or Krishen Nagar to Allama Iqbal international airport (Lahore’s international airport). Forward from airport is under construction while there are few parts in circle are also complete and usable. I believe when this round will complete we’ll face less traffic in city as much people would prefer to use Ring Road of Lahore.

Since childhood, the name of Muree use to bring a fresh breeze of happiness and a relax time at a beautiful Hill station. But Alas! that’s not the case anymore. The number of people visiting this place had increased tremendously during last few years but unfortunately the place is same, without any extension.

I visited that place in this summer and took me almost more than an hour to reach mall road as it was so crowded and the car was moving just inch by inch and when we reached mall road then again we had to continue moving as there was no place to park the car. After wasting almost 3 – 4 hours I finally headed back to my hotel. Mall road is so much crowded now a days that it is impossible to enjoy a comfortable time with family.

Nathia Gali:

Whereas Nathiagali is emerging as a new and exotic place, with increasing number of shops which are opened till late night and a lot of hotels and investment going on to this side. May be Nathiagali is becoming Mall road of Murree gradually, but I wonder that it should not have the same fate as of Murree Mall road

This is a tomb located on G.T.Road Lahore near to famous university of Engineering and Technology (UET). Tomb is not maintained and not in a position that people would go there to visit. It has a small gate in front which is mostly closed and there is no one to open that gate however it is not difficult to jump over it, and no one would mind it.

There is some information written on a board at the tomb about it. That informational board has a heading ‘So Called Buddu’s Tomb’ and it has written below text on it

“Traditionally, The Tomb is attributed to ‘Buddu’, a brick manufacturaer of the time of emperor ‘Shah Jahan’ (A.D. 1628 – 1658). However, the historians attribute it to ‘Khan-e-Dauran’s’ wife. ‘Khan-e-Dauran Bahadur Nusrat Jang’ was an important noble of the Mughal court. He died in A.D. 1643 and was also burried in the tomb, close to his wife. The Tomb had an arched gallery around and perhaps stood in an enclosed garden with a gate way now disappeared. The Dome had glazed tile decoration arranged in Chevrons”

No one wishes to go in there and view the tomb from inside but still it has become an attention for travelers of G.T. Road Lahore. Just a glimpse on this historical piece takes you to the Mughal Period for little time.
