A flight of stairs paneled like a cave’s walls leads you through a glass door in to a sanctum dimly lit in purple called the Purple Haze Cafe. Everything from the rocky ceilings to the plush velvety cubicles, and the art on the walls is done in purple, the color of magic.

The aroma of the blueberry sheesha wafting through the chilled air, trance music blaring through the speakers and the purple glow gives the whole place an aura of hushed mystery and puts you under a spell.

The café has a karaoke bar lined with brass statues which light up in orange hue at night and renders the atmosphere even more enchanting. Besides that they are equipped with a flat screen to play music videos and new flicks.

An à la carte menu listed with sumptuous meals ranging from ravioli to ravishing prawns or you could order snacks like club sandwich, even their French fries have the power of making you ravenous, and such is the taste of the food.

Alongside, they have an exotic offering of tropical juices, scrumptious shakes, rich lattes and mouthwatering desserts to seal the deal to the best evening out. Purple Haze Café is the perfect dining experience.

Purple Haze Café is very different from the regular cafés in town. It is designed with an ambiance to transport you to just another world.

From my usual posts on eatntravel.pk, this post is going to be a variety in the lead.

A food service that is working entirely through a website; this is something unusual happening in Pakistan that you order a delicious food online and get it delivered to your place within a very short span of time.

Room Service took this bold initiative and started serving starved Karachites hot & scrumptious food. The best thing is their interaction with its customers on Facebook.

You call them and order the food, and for any reason if it gets delayed or isn’t hot as per your requirements, then they will deliver free food to your place or will give you discount as per the mishap. This is something very interesting from their end, as it retains a customer, makes them buy from Room Service again, builds a great brand image in the eyes of its customers, creates word of mouth, and is a great deal altogether for food lovers.

The food itself is very unique and this is another exclusiveness of Room Service. If you look at their menu card, it’s with a number of French, Italian, Mediterranean, Greek, Thai, & Japanese cuisines with cheaper rates.

Room Service’s affordability makes it a daily routine lunch for office going public and university students.

One can easily read more about Room Service through their website http://www.roomservice.com.pk/ or order their delicious cuisine by calling them up at 021-35863655, 021-35863677 or Email at info@roomservice.com.pk

A small restaurant which has no seating arrangement but has delicious food to excite its customers to go there again and again. One either sits in his car and eats or takes away the food.

The best part is their deal system. With everything you order, you get a ROLL for free. This was atleast shocking for me because the roll itself was so tasty and mouth-watering that after eating chicken mega-burger, I couldn’t stop myself from eating the roll too. Equipped with fries, ketchup and chutney, it was a great value for money.

I was with 2 other friends of mine, and I was wondering that my 1 blue note will be used for the lunch but I was amazed to see that I hardly used 1 green note of Rs. 500. Wow isn’t it. 3 people eating Mega Burger, Tikka, and a Zinger Burger along with fries.

Unlike other places, the fries were of some standard, which I was not expecting to be true.

Red Apple is in the midst of Zamzama Commercial Boulevard where there are juices shops, fast food places, hot n spicy, other restaurants, one potato two potato (optp) and many more. Still out of many restaurants, it has made its name and that was visible by its customers.

The taste was so appetizing that I will surely go there again. Hope you go there too

Bites is a ‘small’ restaurant in Mohammad Ali Society, Karachi.

It is a bar-be-que place where Arabian, Turkish, Syrian, and Iranian food is served, not to forget all modified as per the Pakistani taste.

The management consists of young sweet energetic people striving to retain the customers but once you have eaten Bites, I am sure one cannot stop himself from going there again.

The prices are very reasonable; in Rs. 250 & Rs. 300 you can have a complete meal (I wish there was an option in Internet to taste & smell the food). The aura is so good that it feels like one is in Turkey having delicious food.

You can surely imagine about the taste and its uniqueness that I took my parents there on their wedding anniversary it is a sweet place.

Let me name a few dishes and you will have an idea, how the dish is must be (it’s tempting ) Joojeh Kebab, Koubideh Kebab, Shish Taook, Fish Tikka… and many more (I know my readers must be drooling by now). Do check out the menu card, they serve it this way. Bites doesn’t spend on plates, glasses, cutlery etc. and I agree it’s a total wastage when you have ideas like this.

Not to forget their chutni (sauce). It’s a perk on their food. There are 3 or 4 types of sauces – to enhance the taste more.

Guess what! When I went there, I was the only one in their restaurant waiting for my family to arrive. They took 20 minutes to arrive, and till then they served me their special potatoes with their special sauce (for FREE) :> lucky me.

The best thing is that they even do home delivery. Their restaurant has a seating arrangement for 5 families only that makes it 25 people in total, might be less but it was absolute for people like me who don’t like rush!

From Bites manager I got to know that they were struggling hard to get the neighboring shops to extend their place but let me tell you, the place they are in is the food area (not street) where you can find Kaybees, Zeenan Snacks, Ponderosa, KFC, PizzaHut and other small tikka, burger houses; which makes it a special place for food lovers.

I am sure I have succeeded in exciting & instigating you to go & eat their for once at least.

Today at 6pm clouds started pouring their blessed water in Karachi. It was such a lovely weather that I couldn’t stop myself from enjoying it and celebrating the beautiful weather with my friends. What could be a better place to visit other than SEA VIEW, the best of the best place in Karachi.

Let me give you an over view of Sea View, it’s actually corniche of Karachi. The moment you reach sea view road, you see beautiful heart throbbing waves splashing and hitting the edge. Lots of people go there to see the sunset, and many even go there to see the sunrise, people jog/walk there and many rich lads bring their horse for horse-riding on seaside (who would miss if one gets an opportunity).

Many bhutta Wala’s, goley gandey wala, Kehwa, Chaye wala are roaming there to serve you. But now there are many take away outlets there that have all the cuisines from Pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, rolls, biryani, juices, coffee, tea etc.

Not to forget Pizza Hut van there, a drive-thru McDonalds, Salt n pepper Village, Floating Boat, etc (hope I didn’t miss any)

{All updates on these places will be given to you in my next article, keep reading}

Well coming to my experience again, it was raining and there were a lot of people there, it seemed like people were waiting for rain desperately. We went to the drive-thru of McDonald’s and parked our car there, and sat on the benches outside the outlet. We saw sunset there and one of my friend actually switched on songs in his car, which actually jazzed up the whole environment.

After sunset, normally people think that it might get dark there and dangerous but let me tell you it’s so bright there, that you might find a dropped common pin because there are so many lamp posts with brighter lights in them and many cops roaming around for security.

It’s a safe and calm place where waves that might seem quiet have so much noise in them that many a times people get afraid of these waves, especially when oil spills in the sea or when there is cyclone news, sea view road gets closed for security purposes. Not to forget, one can’t date there because of our efficient Karachi police. So there is no chance for youngsters to do anything

Guest Post by ‘RID’

Location: Rashid Minhas road, Gulshan-e-iqbal – Karachi.

It is one of the biggest & best mall in Karachi. Besides shopping, you can get other fun activities there. It is centrally air conditioned, food court, grocery store and bakery is also in it. Many designers shops are there for ladies, gents and kids with good prices, everything you can get from this mall. On the other hand, at third floor there is a bowling area & a play land for kids.

More over KFC, Pizza Next and other small food restaurants are the part of Millennium Mall. Although Millennium Mall is enough for enjoyment for any age group , so i suggest if you don’t go still must visit there. Personally I love to do shopping from this mall because I found good quality of things I need. If nothing you can even also enjoy window shopping

An event that surpassed all events – “First Annual Pakistan Blog Awards 2010”

The UnConference conference, an awards ceremony with red carpets, glittering lights, cameras, spot lights, Ajrak as a symbol to promote the culture and tradition, promotion of the brand ”Pakistan”.

This is just the glimpse of the show. It is a bit bigger post, not a usual one, it’s about our achievement, and I would like to write about it. Hope you enjoy reading.

The show started at 5pm with registration being done for the guests and nominees at two separate desks, where neck tags were given, along with wrist bands to the nominees. The entrance had a big red carpet welcoming all the Bloggers, their guests and the honorable judges. The aroma and the ambiance of this side of Regent Plaza, Karachi was full of charisma, colors and enthusiasm that by the time I entered the Kohinoor Hall, I was completely enchanted.

CIO Pakistan’s team was in red striped black kurta’s with ajrak as their esteemed pride. Kohinoor Hall was all set with tables covered with Ajrak, spot lights, giant sponsors’ boards and 3 huge LCD screens showing bloggers interviews & clips.

Did I mention I was interviewed by Dawn’s charismatic anchor Mehreen Agha

At 6pm the event started and Rabia Garib (Editor-in-Chief of CIO Pakistan) inaugurated the show; and the show opened with a fantastically sung song Yaar Dadhi Ishq… live performance of the song was actually a show booster.

Just after the song; the discussion session started and a panel of 5 people with 2 Bloggers were called up on the stage. The main theme of the discussion was “innovation in media”, the entrepreneurs sitting in the panel had a lot to discuss and share their views with the audience. The interesting part was the discussion of the panel with the audience, so as to have their part of the word too. And the interesting part was that I commented too on CEO Jang’s statement. Well, the discussion closed with the meaningful conclusion that conventional and traditional media goes hand in hand, every medium has its own importance and should be used significantly.

Just after the discussion got over at 7:30; awards were given to the panelists for attending the show and giving their time to the show. Followed by the big event for the bloggers started, amongst 41 total awards, 10 were distributed to the categories of gossips, podcast, business, photo bloggers, photo blog, fashion, humor, music, celebrity, and culture blog.
After the first session of awards, we headed towards the tea break at 7:45pm.

At 8pm the show resumed, charming Rabia Garib was up on the stage again with her entertaining humor. At 8pm, discussion session started with a Panel of four intelligent business executives along with 2 from the audience. The topic was “selling through entertainment, content generation and convergence” i.e. companies should not be risk averse, they should be risk-takers, consistent if fails, and keep on experimenting throughout, and that innovation attracts consumers. Once again I commented and got a powerful influential reply from Google Pakistan’s CEO. ‘Digital is not only a medium, it’s a life style’, at this impressive note, the discussion ended and awards were distributed to the panelists.
At 9:10, the heart-pondering moment started, the awards were distributed to the blog categories; gaming, tips & tricks, best automobile, education, domestic technology, online community, best technology international and news media.
At 9:20, we had a Red-Bull break, to energize all of us till the end of the show.
And at 9:30, the final bit of the show started; panel discussion with 5 truly genius people. The topic was “engagement of public & media”, through brand stories. And the best part was that I didn’t make a comment because my questions were all being answered by the panelists themselves in the discussion. Overall, it was a knowledgeable and thought-provoking discussion.

Finally the awards were distributed, and categories were urdu blogs, Ezine, political, personal, live photo blogger, individual blogger, diarist, current affairs, activist, live blogger, food, best tech hardware, sports, business and the greatest of all travel blog. The name got announced and full of excitement, me Sakina Nazir went up on the stage to receive the award for BEST TRAVEL BLOG “EATNTRAVEL.PK”. Oh! Good Lord, we won the award. I was over excited, over-joyed, thrilled, and … that after I came on my seat, I looked at the award, the beautiful round curved trophy with a wooden base. At both sides of the wooden base is the metal plate, beautifully carved with sponsors names at one side and the other side is

Afterwards when I came out of the allurement of the fascinating award, I realized that awards distribution ceremony has been finished and beautiful Rabia is moving towards the end. At 10:22, there was a one-minute silence kept for the loss of our loved-one’s due to the tragic events happening in Pakistan since a couple of years, especially Lahore attacks on the same day, 28th May 2010.

There was a surprise too, Head of communications, Nokia, gave three nokia phones as reward to the people who answered three questions; two were related to nokia’s software ovi and the last one was a bit tricky “how many nokia phones are manufactured across the globe in 1 minute?”; obviously it was young men’s game. The answer was “nine”. Altogether, this surprise augmented the show and created a vibe amongst all.

At the end, it was food lovers’ time, it was the dinner time. Although, it seemed normal but it was long-awaited and delicious cuisine was served.

I had my Chinese dinner listening to the live performance again, and this time it was a slow smooth song, going with the pace of the atmosphere, “ghuncha koi mere naam ker dia”. A well sung song again. It delighted and flavored the dinner more.

Not to forget the souvenirs which everybody attending the show received; a keychain by CIO & Google, Dell’s t-shirt, cd by Synergy, a note pad by CIO, Traveler’s mug by CIO and not to forget a beautiful Ajrak.

Thanks to CIO, Google Pakistan, Dell, Nokia, IDG, Dawn and others. Hope to get an award again in Second Annual Pakistan Blog Awards. InshaAllah!
