Roadside Parks at Mughalpura

Mughalpura was such a rushy area before the Govt. built Shalamar Interchange which include a underpass on canal road and over head bridge which passes through Mughalpura railway crossing. That bridge is 1.1 kilometer long but if we see the official readings which start from where they start the bridge road, then it would become 1.6 kilometer.

There is a famous Lahore dry port in Mughalpura which is connected with the railway station which is not used for the public but for cargo only. Cargo trains (mall gari) moves so slow and addition there is a system through which train changes the railway line is in exactly center of road. So when that railway crossing closes, it takes lot of time, it move to and fro to change the lines with slow speed of cargo train. This cause lot of traffic jam all the time at Mughalpura square (chowk).

At last Govt. heard and decided to make an interchange which cause lot of hassle while construction and people have to go through long way to just pass through Mughalpura. But everyone face those difficulty for more than a year just for this moment of peace which Mughalpura residencies have right now. Any one who has to pass through Lahore cantt and Shalamar link road can move through the over head bridge and those who have to move at canal road can pass through under pass.

Beside road problems Govt. has also taken initiative to make the surroundings beautiful by having greenery and parks at the sides of road. They have also set hundreds of plants under the bridge and same way at the upper sides of under-pass. They have designed different parks at the sides of road which are under construction at the moment. One is nearly completed and other are on the way. These green plants have added such a beauty to Mughalpura which is worth seeing.

Other than that people of Mughalpura have started enjoying this all. Every morning lots of people walk on the bridge and enjoy the view below, you can also notice certain groups in evening too. Other people walk through the parks at the road side and kids playing and enjoying the nature beauty at their nearest. When I pass through this road, I think that how beautiful my Pakistan is…
