Ice Cream Of Pakistan – Chaman Ice Cream
Some things and places become tradition and culture of a country, same is the case with Chaman ice cream which started as a small ice cream parlor. Day by day their sales increased and they become one of the most recognize ice cream in Pakistan.
Their specialty is Pistachio flavor which has lots of pistachios in it which is an expensive fruit here in Pakistan and not used that frequently. Expensive fruits in a ice cream which cost you just Rs. 40/- for a cup having four scoops of your choice. You’ll notice that in their refrigerator, only pistachio flavor occupies double size bucket than any other flavor. However I don’t like their pistachio flavor ice cream but it doesn’t make it less tasty, everyone loves it.
Firstly they use to sell their ice cream only at one outlet which is on The Mall Road, Lahore but couple of years ago they started to make branches. In Lahore they have two more branches other than their main branch at Mall Road. One is in Faisal Town and other is in Shadbagh.
Their timings in Faisal Town branch is till 12 am in the night whether how many customers they have in line. On the other hand their main branch remain open almost whole night. We wish to have same strategy in their Faisal Town branch as they have on Mall Road.
Furthermore they have ice cream shakes available on Faisal Town and Shadbagh branch but not in their main branch. I love their ‘Vanilla Ice Cream Shake’ but I can’t have it at their main branch. Main branch serve fresh fruit milk shakes and juices which no other branch serve. Oh! one must memorize their offers respectively to each branch.
Whenever we pass through Mall Road or have any thing to do at Hall Road; Chaman Ice cream is our must-stop place. I’ve come to know that they have recently started their branch at Abbottabad. It is a good sign and I don’t know how many cities they have planned further. Let me know if you have a real Chaman Ice Cream in your city.

i think they are losing their taste day by day coz they redused the amount of Pistachio in Pistachio flavor which is my Favourite flavor but still they must be at no one
Chaman still remains the best. Inspite of heavy weights like Gourmet, Hico, Walls, Amore and so many, easiely available on next corner and even at doorstep, no one could challenge Chaman. My friends and me are customers of Chaman since 1970. Inspite of their quality varying time to time, Chaman stands dominating.
Let me add another name of the city, Multan Cantt, where Chaman icecream is avilable. Admnistration over there informed me that supply is coming all the way from Lahore.
this is good to know chaman is also available in Multan.
My favorite ice cream is Mc-Donalds instead.
Chaman Icecream indeed is doing good among its tough competitors, its nice to have a pure Pakistani brand with its own elegant and different taste. I hope they maintain their quality and develop their taste with time.

its very sad to see that there are so many good food stuff in pakistan but none of them think beyond their reach as western approach is work locally think globally thats y u see all the western brands are franchised all over the world where as our brands who can easily knock them off does not even try to cover the entire city sale forget the entire pakistan
Dear Nabil,
Your concern for local industry is appreciated. Chaman ice cream is known to me since back from 1966 when it was in its infant age. Started with a meagre setup as roadside vendor. In addition to brand like Hico, Amritsari restaurant(Now Carry Home) also sold ice cream. By the time other local ice cream tried to compete just opening a shop opposite but none of them could block the going on of Chaman. They are flourishing day by day in spite of all known tactics by foreign brands to hamper Chaman’s way.
ARSHAD
dear arshad,
appreciating my concern wont help pakistan let me give u an example if u see the list of fast food chain in pakistan or whole over the world 80 to 85 percent are american based many open before chaman or after chaman. my point is that these companies genereate huge amount of money contributing their economy where as our local ppl say itna hi kafi hai “ALLAH KA KA KARAM”.ALLAH didnt say to open only one or few shops franchise it like mcdonalds did.
mcdonald bought a small vendor who use to sell burger and fries and then converted into a success story by becoming the largest and most popular fast food chain in the world.
baskin robin opened 1945 more than 30 countries 5800 shops out of it 2800 shops in local country
haagen dazs opened 1961 more than 54 countries
dairy queen 1938 more than 5600 shops 4600 in local country 476 million$ in revenue
now acording to u chaman is since 1966 and how many branches locally?
i dont like chaman, there serving criteria is not good,
Ms Sania,
What about quality?
Chaman has now opened 2 branches in Karachi. I haven’t had it in Lahore, and went to try it for the first time. Did not make much of an impact, i’d still prefer the local Baloch variety. I guess the reality didn’t live up to the hype.
Dear Tariq,
If you happen to belong to Karachi than I have to say that eating habits and taste differs, place to place. For example Nimko, nihari, pan shops are must in any loacality of Karachi but in case of Lahore, no loacality can be found without milk/yougurt shop.
Speaking about Baloch ices, they make icecream in different style as compared to Chaman, perhaps according to the taste of Karachi walas. Jelly is freely used in icecream and it should be colorful.

to arshad
its a common sense that taste changes even city to city too but a good company convert itself into the needs of that place for example pizza hut they have the same taste where ever u go but they also have chapli kebab pizza and chicken tikka pizza so that they can woo the pakistani customer into indulging more in pizzas same shud have been done by chaman u cannot accuse some one having a different taste bit than urs but wat u can do is to create a border line so that both party can enjoy example srilankan eats more spicy foods than us so pizza over there wud be much more spicy than ours
chaman before opening into karachi shud have checked the local taste and flavours if they want to stay here for long
Chaman Ice Cream Branch recently opened in Karachi- Boat Basin a few months back
Regrettably Chaman ice cream quality has plunged recently. So much so that most of their ice creams are not worth eating.
chaman ice cream is mind blowing, fantastic ice cream of pakistan.googd job!
Dear Readers,
I have visited the Chaman Ice Cream so many times in different cities and different outlets, the taste of ice cream is super and no matach of taste available in Pakistan, but the service of Lahore branch is not good, but the most good service of G.T. Road, Gujranwala Franchisee, but i am very sorry to say that the big factor of this chain is different of rates in different cities, it is not good sign from a big company. i hope if their owner read this, they will consider about my views of about rate difference.
but i just tell in the end the taste of ice cream is matchless.
Dear can you update me the rates of other cities you visited. I’ve been there yesterday actually and have their rates in my mind. It will help to match them up. Thank you
The Rates of different cities are different, the rates are as follow: -
Small Cup in Lahore Rs.30
Small Cup in Rawalpindi Rs.35
Small Cup in Muree Rs.40
Small Cup in Karachi Rs.50
What is that? I think a good company cant do it, KFC, MacDonalds and other food chain, even Wall and Omore Ice Cream apply same rates in all cities and outlets, then why they impose different rates in different cities and outlets.
Please complain them, when u visited Lahore mall brach.
Thank you buddy, you have the rates of Chaman in whole country. Yea, you are right, they should keep the rates same for better image of Chaman Ice cream I guess. On the other hand, people who are fan of Chaman believe there is no such ice cream as this one, so for them, they can go for any rate
okkkkkkkkkkkkk i will complaint when i visit them in lahoreeeeeeeeee
i luv chaman icecream due to its uniq tate.
I don’t like chaman’s ice cream
I guess everyone has it’s own taste. It is not my favorite too
Asalamoalikum! I am a student of BBA. I am doing my marketing project on Chaman ice cream Islamabad franchise. I need the history of chaman ice cream parlour in general. Can anybody please help me? I’ll be great full.
